Now then. As a relatively new moderator with fresher ideas of updating BB, this thread will be home to my update information. Feel free to post update ideas, suggestions, graphics, bugs, errors, complaints and news.
17th August 2013:
- Current order of magic item rewards: Grinch Smiley >> Wool Package >> Crystal Package >> Blue Wizard >> Red Wizard >> Witch
>> Green Wizard >> Top Hat Smiley >> Black Wizard
- As of now: if all magic smileys and packs have been gained, a coin collected that would normally give a smiley or block pack now gives 15 energy.
18th August:
-Party smiley added to the magic list, between Black Wizard and +15 Energy
-Chance of gaining magic has been doubled.
-New command /updateinfo
27th August:
-Addressing updates such as ladders, blue coindoors and other special blocks: as it is, capasha is the only one with enough knowledge of the BB clientside coding to make these things. Lightwolf is working on a new client which will allow all mods to easily make these updates, however the estimated finish time is in around 2 months.
- I will begin making (normal) block updates from the 1st September, starting with the cloud pack. Due to Meredith1999's communications with Chris Benjaminsen, BB will have no copyright problems like EECM did, allowing me to add any blocks from EE, including those on the EE forums.
- I will also be adding smileys from EE or from the forums. Smiley suggestions are welcome, but I can't create new smileys, only add existing ones. If you want a brand new smiley to be added to BB, draw it yourself then post it.
28th August :
- ANNOUNCEMENT: There will be a graphics contest starting from 12:00 GMT tomorrow. The task is to create either a brand new smiley or block/block pack for Blocking Blocks. All players are free to enter, and you may submit as many things as you create.
- You may edit or use as a template any of the smileys from here, but you must edit them enough for the original smiley not to be recognisable
- The contest will end at 12:00am GMT on Thursday 5th September, and all entries will be judged by the BB moderators.
- The top three entries will be added to BB, and the players who submitted them will gain 55, 35 and 15 gems respectively, the three winning entries, and the red ninja smiley
- You may post your entries here, or post links here to wherever you upload your entry
- Good luck, and spread the word!
1st September :
- Having returned from holiday to a decent PC with good internet speed, I am now able to add any new block packs and/or smileys; brand new or "stolen" from EE. Animated things, such as the water decoration, I have yet to learn how to do. Post your suggestions!
6th September
- Well, screw that contest idea. Possibly something to do with the average players who open a world in BB every day being less than 3... =(
- Anyway, BB will soon be getting the cloud package as a free new pack!
9th September
- There has been a new update, which introduces the Rainbow Ninja smiley range.
- So far: Dark Blue ninja, gold ninja, green ninja, purple ninja.
- Coming soon: White ninja, grey ninja, light blue ninja, oragne ninja, cloud package, down arrow decoration
- Credits for designing the ninja goes to Angelheart, who is instated as the first ever "official" BB graphics designer
- I will try and edit the update information to the right of the lobby room list. It was last updated when capasha was around, and he was a pro at editing the client. We'll see.
30th September
- Having been struggling for the past few weeks with an appreciatively large pile of work, my presence in BB has sadly decreased. On the other hand, BB's popularity is on the rise again, meaning decent updates will have to be implemented. As it is, the most likely time period for a BB update will be between 6 and 10pm every Friday, and until the new client is finished, new updates may be restricted to smileys and blocks.
- Halloween contest! Angelheart, now being the self-proclaimed "contest manager" (as well as "official graphics designer"), is in charge of it here. Prizes... I will decide when I have the time. Pumpkin smileys and gems, probably.
- Ill try and update BB this week.
1st October
- Reintroduced: 10 Great Sized Worlds (400x200) can be swapped (through me) for an XXL world (600x400). Note that this does mean you will lose the 10 Great Saved Worlds.
4th October
- Possible big update ~ there has been talk of merging BB and EE2, to make a new better game with much more regular updates and several mods (including Ultrabass)! "Everybody Blocks", as I think it should be called, may be put into the new client that lightwolf is working on(ETA still 2 months). For those who care, it could be possible to update the BB Flash Object in Actionscript 3 rather than P-coding, which will make previously complicated updates (i.e. blue coin doors) much easier.
- If this "fusion" actually happens, Atilla (EE related programmer) will provide a new server, meaning that we wont need to use Player.IO, and the resulting game will be much more specialised AND free to run.
- Maybe.
13th October
- It has been agreed, by both the mods of BB and EE2, that the games will be allowed to merge to create a better and more frequently updated one.
- The game is still at the very first stages of its existence, so very few details will be decided.
- Moderators will include me, Meredith, Ultrabass, Lightwolf, Kentiya and some mods from EE2.
21st October - 1st October
- I am on holiday between these two dates, with no computer and limited WiFi access...
27th October
- Lol, a storm. Nicknamed 'St. Jude', largest since 1987. Feel free to design a BB 'storm package' xD
- No new info on Everybody Blocks. Meredith is writing a new server in C# though; apparently Atilla won't be lending a hand.
- I'm aware of the fact that the URL you get when clicking "Share Level" redirects back to the Lobby/ Room List screen, which makes it impossible to get into invisible rooms. This is kind've annoying, and Meredith and I are trying to fix the problem, which was probably caused by the short-term server switch a few weeks ago.
- For those of you taking part in the Halloween contest, you have until 11:59pm on Friday 31st October to finish. No more teams may sign up. Email the full URL of your level to Angelheart at blockingblocks_angel@hotmail.com, who will display them on her site. I have just said that the links won't work, but I can open and get into the worlds using a bot. You may NOT edit any of the contest levels after the ending date, or I may be forced to disqualify the world.
- Meredith and I are investigating the possibility of adding a small 'Downloads' tab to the main BB site, where I can post some basic public bots such as Snake Bot, and an 'Updates' page, so that I don't need to keep writing stuff here.
- Post ideas of bots you want BB to have, and I'll see if they're possible/ worth doing.
1st November
- It seems that Player.IO (the server running BB, EECM, EE2) has fixed a bug/glitch in its payment system where the $25 per-month plan didn't actually need paying. This means that, without donations, BB/EE2 or EECM cannot run for free using Player.IO
- However, there remain a number of possible options to revive the three games, which are being investigated (mod team-huddle xD). I'll post when I know more.
- This is slightly beside the point now, but the Halloween worlds can now be submitted XD.
3rd November
- Over the next few weeks, we'll investigate options to get BB running again. These include
- Coding a free C# server to replace Player.IO,
- Running BB on the free Player.IO plan.
7th November
- Be prepared to wait a while before BB comes back.
- As I said before, we're investigating any and all options available, including those listed above. I'll post when we've decided what to do.
8th November
- Meredith is on holiday for the next.....week?
17th November
- I have just learned about another parody made by Njifra and Rdococ called Epic Blockers. ...It's kinda dead.
- EECM is back online! This was done by Krock switching the game to the free Player.IO plan. This means no shop items. The same goes for EB.
18th November
- It seems like a plan of action has been made concerning BB. Lightwolf will continue to work on the new client (swf.), and we might get Krock's help, the same way he helped Epic Blockers.
- When finished, the game will be run on the free Player.IO plan, meaning buying shop items will have to be completely recoded as they aren't part of the free deal. It may be possible to replace PayVault with bools.
- Everybody Blocks may be hosted on BB.comze.com, but more likely a new domain will be made, editable by more than one person.
- We are hoping to get an alpha version of the game up and running by Christmas, so a Christmas Contest may be possible.
26th November
- Uhh... nothing much happening. Lightwolf's still going with the swf. Dunno where Krock is. Still no idea whether the deadline (24th December 11:49pm) is feasible.
25th December
- Merry Christmas all!
26th December
- Finally, the Alpha version of Everybody Blocks has been released! Play it at HERE!!!
- This is the very first version, which Lightwolf created without copying any coding whatsoever from either BB or EE2. He wrote both the flash file and the serverside for the game.
- Meredith doesn't want EB to have anything to do with Player.IO, and instead will look into creating a custom (free) server to run the game, without payed plan limitations. Atilla may be involved.
- Although the game will probably be running on Lighwolf's site, Meredith will buy a .com domain to host EB, so comze.com will not be used.
6th February 2014
- Well, it's certainly been a while.
- Meredith decided to distance herself from the whole EE/BB shebang, because life.
- I've moved slowly back to EE, and am in the process of making a pretty interesting private bot (TomaBot Minigames).
- EB went nowhere, and probably won't go anywhere anytime soon.
- Ultrabass, however, took some of the source code for BB and EECM, and has put it together to start up BB2!
- ultrabass.site90.net/Games/BB2/
- So far, it is being modded my him and Legitturtle (a fellow programmer and member of Tec Crew). I have also put my name forwards as a moderator.
- BB2, sadly, will be running the free Player.IO payment plan, meaning no shop items will be available, and doing major updates will be relatively tricky.
